For the week of 8th to 12th July 2024, the school timetable will be suspended and all pupils in years 7-9 will undertake 'enrichment' activities.
This includes the option of one of two trips abroad. All of the trips will be available to any pupil from years 7-9.
There will be other trips available during this week. There will be residential trips available to different locations in England. These will be Lockerbie (for outdoor activities and team building – funded to half price for pupils eligible for Free School Meals), Savio House near Macclesfield (for outdoor activities and a faith aspect) and hopefully a trip to London (for a combination of performing arts and leadership). The full details of these trips with costings will be available in the Autumn term.
For the pupils who have not booked onto any of the residential or trips abroad, there will be other enrichment activities during the week. These may be day trips out to various educational destinations such as the theatre, zoo, and museums. We will ensure that there are options during this week that do not incur a charge for families. Full details of these activities will be issued during the early part of the Spring term.
It is our policy at Mount Carmel to fund pupils who are eligible for Free School Meals 50% off the price of one trip abroad during their time in years 7-9. In addition, all pupils eligible for Free School Meals will also have the price of the Lockerbie trip in year 7 also subsidised by 50%. However, this year 7 Lockerbie trip also occurs during the same week as the three trips on offer through this form. More details on the Lockerbie trip will be given to year 7s in the Autumn term.

Lockerbie Outdoor Adventure Trip – Monday 8 July to Wednesday 10 July 2024
We are writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity that is available to your child next year during our Trip Week. The visit will be to Manor Adventure in Lockerbie, Scotland, this is a two-night residential holiday Monday 8 July to Wednesday 10 July 2024.
At Manor Adventure, the pupils participate in a full programme of activities including climbing, abseiling, high ropes and many more. Fully trained and qualified instructors, with the support of school staff, provide instruction for the activities in a safe, controlled and secure environment. Transport to and from Lockerbie is by coach.
The total cost of the visit to Manor Adventure will be £250.00 (£125 - Pupil Premium pupils) and this includes full board accommodation, all activities and transport.
To apply for a place for your child, please complete the reply slip and return it to the school office together with a non-refundable deposit of £50.00 (£25.00 for Pupil Premium pupils). Payment can be made online using the Scopay system, by cash or by cheque. Deposits must be paid by Monday 4 December 2023 to secure a place and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
The final balance for the trip will need to be paid by Friday 24 May 2023.

Your child has been given the opportunity to experience real ‘leadership in action,’ as we have arranged for pupils to visit London for three days. The overnight residential trip would take place from Sunday 7 July 2024 - Tuesday 9 July 2024.
Pupils will stay at a centrally located hotel; participate in a workshop at the Houses of Parliament; visit the London Eye; have dinner in central London; enjoy a Thames River cruise; experience a West End show and some of the other famous attractions that London has to offer.
The total cost of the visit is £270.00, and this includes accommodation, all activities and transport. Pupils will travel down to London and return via the train, however when in London, pupils will walk or take the London Underground. Pupil Premium pupils will receive a 50% discount for this trip, so the total cost is £135.00.
To apply for a place for your child, please complete and return the reply slip to the school finance office together with a non-refundable deposit of £50.00 (£25.00 for Pupil Premium pupils). Savio House Wellbeing Trip – Wednesday 10 – Friday 12 July 2024
We are writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity that is available to your child next year. The visit will be to Savio House in Cheshire. During the visit pupils will be expected to take part in hikes, group work and different collective liturgies all led by an experienced youth work team and Mount Carmel staff.
What is the benefit of going?
We have designed the trip with the vision that will give your child a space outside the parameters of the school day to reflect on their own spiritual and personal growth. Whilst it is a predominantly a Catholic retreat, we are sure that the trip will be fun and offer many opportunities for active team building and group activities. We are confident this is the case as pupils that went last year said it was, ‘a nice peaceful trip away that allows you to interact with staff and other pupils’ and ‘It was really good, and I would go back it was that fun.’ Everyone is welcome: all faiths and none will be catered for and supported. It’s very much in the spirit of growing in confidence, self-discovery and teamwork.
How much will it cost?
The total cost for this Visit is £140.00 (£70.00 for Pupil Premium pupils), this covers:
• Full board for your child for 3 full days and 2 nights.
• All activities they will do there.
• Their space on the coach to and from the venue
What do we expect from pupils?
Even though this opportunity is not in school we still expect the same high standards of the pupils. Whilst we want them to have a great time, we will expect they remain respectful throughout of others and the venue.
Are the pupils covered by insurance?
Please note that this visit is covered by Lancashire County Council public liability insurance, but there is no personal accident insurance for your child. If you feel that this is necessary, you will need to make separate arrangements.
If you have any further concerns regarding this, then a copy of written Risk Assessments for the activities (including Plan B) are available on request from the school. What if my child has medical needs?
You will be aware that the school holds medical information on your child. Please contact the school prior to the visit if there has been any recent illness of which we should be aware, or any changes in your child's medical condition.
Finally
If you wish your child to take part in this visit, we will require a £50.00 non refundable deposit to secure your child’s place on the trip. After this, you pay instalments if you wish, and a payment plan can be set up with the school. Your child will not be able to attend the trip unless the full balance of the trip is paid by Friday 24 May 2024. Please complete the attached permission slip along with the medical form attached, place it in an envelope along with the deposit and return it to Mrs Brewster no later than Monday 4 December 2023.

This afternoon, you will play your first matches of the tour.

Walibi World Theme Park. You won't get time to catch your breath between the several roller coasters and other rides with names like Aztec, el Condor and Goliath. Just hold on tight as you reach breakneck speeds, make head spinning loops and experience breath taking drops.
Thursday 11 July
During the morning you can take in some of the local sights or spend some time at the beach.
In the late afternoon, you will play your final matches of the tour.

After the games, spend some time with your opposition before heading back to your accommodation.
