Parent Teacher and Friends Association

We are in attendance at various events throughout the school year such as Open Evenings, Inter-Primary Quizzes, Welcome Evenings, New Intake Evenings and Parents Evenings.

You will usually see us in the Twelve Star Diner offering free teas, coffees, juice and biscuits so visitors feel relaxed and able to ask us questions about life at Mount Carmel. We also feel it is important to let our young people see that we are interested in their school life and that home-school partnerships are an important part of their success and happiness. The PTFA’s aim is to break down any barriers that may potentially exist and empower parents to become proactive in their child’s educational life.

We also do some fundraising for specific school projects e.g. we raised money towards 2 trampolines in the P.E. department, bought outdoor web cams for the Eco garden, a life size torso model for biology, equipment for the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and we have bought lots of benches for the school yard.

Our meetings are the ideal opportunity to have a ‘voice’ in school. Any suggestions for schemes or improvements are discussed and all ideas and comments are listened to and wherever possible actioned upon. The Headteacher attends all meetings along with other key staff.

We don’t expect you to commit to any great lengths of your valuable time, our meetings usually commence at 6pm and generally last about an hour, just once every half term.

Please consider coming along to our next meeting, we will genuinely welcome you.
