Nathan Parker, a local author from Blackpool came into Mount Carmel to talk about his life as an author and what inspired him to write as well as work with some year 9 pupils on writing with empathy.
He spoke about how it is important for a writer to connect with their readers and make the reader care about the characters or subject matter.
Pupils will have the opportunity to apply the techniques that he mentioned in their written work later this term.
