Dear Parent / Carer
As a Catholic community, we find ourselves in the holiest week of the year: Holy Week. During this week, we remember the last week of Jesus' life, leading up to his Crucifixion on Good Friday and the huge celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. This important time also coincides with a national Bank Holiday. Therefore, school will close at 3.00pm on Thursday 14 April and reopen on Tuesday 19 April.
On Good Friday (15 April) our Senior Prefect Team, along with some members of staff, will be joining the interdenominational Procession of Witness at 11.00am in Accrington. Our pupils, along with pupils from St Christopher's, will read the Stations of the Cross as we walk to the top of the Coppice. This is always a lovely service and all pupils, and their families, are invited to join us at the top of Avenue Parade at 10.45am.
We wish you all a happy and holy Easter 2022.
As a faith school, we also take this opportunity to acknowledge the members of our school community observing Ramadan. For Muslims, the holy month of Ramadan has arrived (2 April 2022 - 1 May 2022), a month where Muslims find a sense of peace, spiritual healing and test their strength and devotion to God by fasting during the hours of daylight, focusing on prayer and charity. We wish our Muslim pupils, staff and their families, "Ramadan Mubarak".
We understand that Eid celebrations will occur on or around Sunday 1 May - Tuesday 3 May.
As a consequence, I understand that pupils celebrating Eid will not be in school and I will authorise an absence for two days to enable them to celebrate Eid with their families.
Can I remind parents also of the school rules regarding uniform which excludes extreme hairstyles, false nails, false tan, eye lashes, body piercings (apart from one small stud in each ear) and tattoos. Please also ensure that any henna tattoos applied for Eid are light enough to have faded on return to school.
Your sincerely
Mr Bowers
