Sixty two Mount Carmel Year 7 pupils went to Manchester Airport on a joint Careers and History trip. They spent the morning at the Runway Visitor Park where they got the chance to explore the flight deck and the cabin of a DC10 where they learned about the history of aviation and flight, then they visited the Concorde hanger and learned about the Concorde. They also got the opportunity to watch flights take off and land.
In the afternoon they visited the airport itself and took part in tours of Terminal 1 and 2, visiting arrivals and speaking to staff at a departures desk. One group were lucky enough to visit the VIP lounge on the executive class floor of the Radisson Blu hotel where rooms start at £2000 per night!
The students had a fantastic time and learned a lot about jobs in the airport and on planes themselves.
