Mount Carmel High School hosted a Community Christmas Party in the school with 90 guests attending. Parishoners from local Catholic Parish Churches of St. Mary’s Oswaldtwistle, St. Mary’s, Clayton-le-Moors, St. Joseph’s and St. Anne’s, residents from Rough Lee Care Home, local residents and staff family members were amongst the guests.
A delicious festive meal was prepared and served by catering staff at Mount Carmel and pupils from the school served food, waited on the guests and chatted to them. A free raffle also took place.
Entertainment was provided after the meal by Mount Carmel’s choir of 50 pupils led by music teacher Miss Javaid. They sang a selection of songs to a delighted audience which included beautiful, powerful solos and duets. The afternoon also included a Christmas sing-a-long which was enjoyed by all who attended.
Headteacher Mr Bowers thanked everyone for attending the community party and explained to the guests that this was the seventh year the school had held the event. He said “All our guests went home with a small gift which had been purchased from donations made by pupils. The invited guests left very happy and full of the joys of the real Christmas message – Peace on earth, love, hope and joy!” This event he said was Mount Carmel at its very best.
