Sarah Smith, MP for Hyndburn and Haslingden visited Mount Carmel to deliver an assembly to Year 11 pupils about her career journey, her plans for Hyndburn, and ask the pupils' what they considered the biggest priorities in the area are.
She then met with the School Council and members of the Senior Prefect Team, taking part in a Q&A where the pupils asked a range of questions sourced from their year groups about local causes and issues which they were passionate about.
The MP spoke openly and honestly about plans for the area and ways that politicians from all parties can do better to benefit everyone in the borough. Finally she met with members of the school's flag football team, celebrating their recent successes and discussing their proposed upcoming tour to Chicago and the fundraising they are doing.
We thank Sarah for her time and for a productive discussion with our pupil leaders, and hope to welcome her back soon.
