February 2025
Dear Parent / Carer
As we once again approach the holy month of Ramadan, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family many holy blessings. I understand that Ramadan 2025 will start on the evening of 28 February and end, with Eid al-Fitr falling on Sunday 30 March.
For the first time that I can recall, the holy month of Ramadan coincides with the holy period of Lent that starts on Ash Wednesday (5 March) and ends on Easter Sunday (21 April). The Muslim and Christian religious traditions will include fasting, giving to charity and praying at the same time in 2025. What a fantastic opportunity to support each other as a school community.
To support our Muslim pupils during the holy month of Ramadan we are making the following adjustments:
- We will offer a prayer room in G14 at lunchtime for pupils who wish to pray.
- Those pupils who are on free school meals are still entitled to claim a free meal. Any pupil who wishes to take home a ‘grab bag’ should let the canteen staff know before morning registration. This will then be ready for them to collect at the end of school.
It is also important that we balance the observance of Ramadan with the well-being and needs of our pupils. If your child is feeling unwell, it may be necessary not to fast at that time.
If there is anything else we can do as a school to support your child during Ramadan, please do let us know.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you during this holy period.
Yours sincerely
Xavier Bowers
