Mount Carmel celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 7th March 2024 arranging plenty of activities for pupils.
Staff dressed up as their favourite book characters for the day - much to our pupils’ amusement - there were some very inventive costumes! Pupils were invited to vote for their favourite costume.
An extract from a book was read to pupils during form time and then during the first five minutes of each lesson throughout the day pupils read the openings of four exciting, new and current books. Pupils used their reading skills to complete a worksheet based on these extracts.
A free World Book Day book was given to all pupils in Key Stage 3 English lessons and there were many activities happening in the library to celebrate the day including a ‘who’s behind the book?’ competition and a spin the wheel challenge.
