All 160 Year 7 pupils at Mount Carmel undertook a project during their science lessons following a visit to Blackpool Zoo.
Pupils were asked to research their choice of animal looking at the habitat and conservation of the species. They also built models of the zoo enclosures.
Four projects from each science class were selected creating a shortlist of 25 for Headteacher Mr Bowers to judge and have the difficult task of choosing a winner.
The winner was Jacob W
2nd place was Mahdiya Z
3rd place was Zara D
The winner won a mystery goody bag from Blackpool Zoo and all others shortlisted won a wooden sculpted animal pen and a Great Ecologist Award certificate.
