Mount Carmel celebrated National Pi Day 2022 with £96.79 being donated to a charity helping Ukrainian refugees.
Numeracy co-ordinator and Maths teacher Mr Clark organised the events along with the Maths department. These began during form time with some Maths activities and was followed by a bake sale at breaktime.
The main event took place over lunchtime with 'Pi the teacher' and saw queues of pupils waiting to take their turn.
Thank you to the willing 'victims' Mr Bowers, Mr Clark, Mr Goldsmith, Mrs Lowe, Miss Khan, Mr Ellerton, Mr Dugdale, Mr Barnes, Mr Doskocz and Miss Dunne.
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
