Mount Carmel celebrated World Book Day 2022 with a selection of activities during the day for pupils. To the delight of pupils staff arrived to school in fancy dress based on book characters with some very imaginative costumes.
A 'Masked Reader' prize quiz took place during form time with 24 members of staff to guess who was reading the book.
Throughout the day at the beginning of each lesson a 'shared story' was read to pupils called 'The Cell'. The story was split into 5 sections so as the day progressed the story unfolded and in the library at break and lunch times there were quizzes and activities for pupils to join in with.
All pupils in year groups 7, 8 and 9 received a book during their English lesson, and pupils in years 10 and 11 received a £1 voucher which they can use towards the purchase of a book of their choice or on revision materials.
Pupils judged the staff fancy dress, selecting the Tin Man (Mr Dugdale) and Cruella Deville (Mel in the kitchen) as their winners. Well done to them.
