Dear Parents / Carers
Year 6 Transition Arrangements for Secondary Schools in Hyndburn – Summer 2021
As a result of the government’s decision to postpone removing all COVID-19 restrictions until 19 July, and the high COVID-19 infection rates in Hyndburn, all secondary schools have agreed to the following strategy for pupils currently in Year 6, due to start at secondary school in the Hyndburn district in September 2021:
- All information for parents and pupils currently in Year 6 will be published on the schools’ websites from 1 July.
- Face to face pupil visits and parents’ evenings that would normally take place on or around 1 July will be postponed until September.
- The summer schools scheduled to take place during the school holidays will focus on Year 6 transition in all schools.
This decision has not been taken lightly and is with everybody's safety in mind. This collective decision will hopefully ensure that all parents of pupils in Year 6 in Hyndburn will not be advantaged, or disadvantaged, regarding their transition to secondary school in our area for September 2021.
In exceptional circumstances there may be a need for face to face visits or meetings held on site before September for vulnerable pupils and their families, including SEND and CLA.
Yours sincerely
