Mount Carmel Year 10 students participated in an Inter-Schools competition at North Lancs Training Group focussing on skills in catering, Design Technology and Digital Marketing.
The six pupils were involved in the third day of heats which were open to schools across Lancashire.
The competition theme was 'Star Wars' and the catering pupils were tasked to make a themed cake in the shape of a light sabre along with two other items of their choice. The Design Technology pupils had to design, build and decorate a stand on which to present the food. The digital marketing students had to write and illustrate a short story and then use social media to promote it, aiming to get as many likes and views as possible.
The Mount Carmel team did amazingly well and won their heat with an impressive score sheet. Not only that, they also won the overall competition with an incredible score of 138/150, which was 12 points clear of second place!
Well done to: Jude and Ella for being on the catering team, to Kian and Dalton for representing us in Design Technology, and to Cody and Leon for being on the marketing team.
The organisers of the event commented on how our pupils were very polite, courteous and a credit to Mount Carmel. The students each won a Bluetooth speaker and the school will receive an engraved trophy.
