Accrington Lions presented Mount Carmel Partnership Manager Sue Fielding with one of just five Centennial Certificates of Appreciation which had been signed by HRH The Countess of Wessex, Patron of the Lions Clubs of the British Isles. The certificates were presented by current Accrington Lions President Richard Gibson and Lion Caz Moreton who was President during the Centenary Year.
The certificates are in recognition of Outstanding Service to the Community in numerous events and recognised the work Sue has done supporting and co-organising the World Down Syndrome Fun Day which is held at Mount Carmel High School and which donates money raised to local families. Also her support and fundraising efforts with a group of young people at the school to create a memorial garden in memory of a dearly missed pupil was recognised.
Certificates were also presented to Jaqui Collins for her charity work, Tina Wilkinson headteacher of St Andrew’s school for her fundraising work, Jan Cotton for her work with Action for Dementia and to Mo Collins who was presented with a special plaque for outstanding community service.
