On Ash Wednesday, our school community came together for a series of reflective services and Celebrations of the Word, marking the beginning of Lent. These were led by Miss Bowers, Mr Davies, and members of the Chaplaincy Team, who guided pupils in considering the significance of this sacred season.
Throughout the services, pupils were encouraged to reflect on the key themes of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. As a school that values inclusivity and shared spiritual experiences, we also took the opportunity to draw parallels with Ramadan, recognising that 25% of our school community is Muslim. This allowed us to explore how both Lent and Ramadan encourage self-discipline, spiritual growth, and acts of charity, fostering a deeper understanding between faiths and highlighting the ways we can support one another on our respective journeys.
Mr Davies offered a challenge to all pupils: to do something extra this Lent to enhance their faith and spirituality. Whether through prayer, acts of kindness, or moments of quiet reflection, this is a time to grow closer to God and live out our faith in meaningful ways.
As we continue through Lent, we encourage our school community to embrace this season of renewal, seeking opportunities to deepen our faith and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
