Mount Carmel Year 8 pupils were involved in a drop-down day on World Mental Health Day with the title ‘Know Stigma’.
The sessions during the day were led by the team at YNot Aspire and arranged by Mr Khan who is co-ordinator of PSHCE and RSE at Mount Carmel.
The pupils participated in five workshops looking at:
- What is mental health and how can we look after our own mental health
- Social media and the impact that can have on our mental health
- Healthy relationships
- Lived experience led by volunteer Dave who talked about his life and his experiences
- Physical activities and communication skills led by staff at Accrington Stanley
The pupils and Year 8 form tutors who were involved in the day thoroughly enjoyed the activities commenting on how the pupils were very engaged with the sessions, producing some very good work throughout the day.
