At the beginning of this new academic year, the pupil leadership team have continued to drive leadership within our school community. This was kickstarted with our Transition Buddy team of year nine pupils joining their year seven counterparts during form time.
The role of our pupil leaders at Mount Carmel is to serve as guides to new starters and provide an alternative safe space to seek advice in addition to members of staff.
The pupils have continued their regular initiatives such as the One Stop MC Shop where pupils can access essential equipment on a daily basis.
School Council will continue to drive decision making in school following the conclusion of this year’s election process. Pupils have volunteered and been selected by form tutors to be their group’s representative for the form, Chaplaincy, Charity, Literacy, Numeracy, Sport, Eco and Wellbeing.
Each group of reps has collaborated with specialist staff in their area to deliver a short presentation to their form group addressing a prominent issue in specific areas, such as democracy or digital wellbeing.
Reps will rotate in half term two, giving other pupils the opportunity to highlight key societal issues to their peers. We look forward to watching our pupils grow as positive influences in our school community as we move into the remainder of the year.
