A group of Year 9 Mount Carmel pupils took part in a Construction Taster Day organised by Accrington & Rossendale College in collaboration with Inspira.

Pupils visited two employers in the morning; building company Keld/Northstone who hosted pupils at their development site in Barrowford. Pupils explored houses in various stages of build from the initial foundations right through to a completed show home.

The second employer, H&S Joinery, gave students a tour of their workshop and discussed the various products they make and some of the exclusive clients who contract joinery work from them. These include the Claridge Hotel and Old War Office building in London. In the afternoon, students visited Accrington & Rossendale College for a tour of their Construction department and the opportunity to try their hand at a variety of activities from bricklaying to wallpapering.
