In recent RE lessons, Year 11 pupils have been exploring Sacred Objects and Vessels used within Catholic Christianity, developing their understanding of how these items help Catholics to focus during worship and prayer.

Pupils have also been learning about vestments worn within the Church, exploring the significance of the different colours and how they link to the seasons of the Church year.

As part of the lesson, pupils even had the opportunity to try on some of the vestments themselves – proving that they still enjoy dressing up, even in Year 11!

In recent RE lessons Year 10 pupils have been exploring the importance of public worship in Judaism and the significance of the internal features of a synagogue.

As part of their learning, pupils had the opportunity to examine a range of Jewish religious artefacts, including the menorah (seven-branched lampstand) and the yad (a pointer used when reading the Torah). They also had the opportunity to try on a tallit (prayer shawl) and kippah (skullcap), helping them to develop a deeper understanding of Jewish traditions and the important role these items play in worship.

This hands-on experience helped bring their learning to life, encouraging pupils to appreciate the significance of religious practices and objects within the Jewish faith.
