Mount Carmel and Hyndburn Academy joined forces to enter the NFL Flag Football Regional Championships. An All-Star team of U15 girls went to Manchester and not only did they win the tournament, they did so in dominating fashion with a 33-0 victory in the final to be crowned 2024 North-West Champions.
It was a fantastic performance from all the girls - Mount Carmel pupils Phoebe and Sarah were playing their first ever competitive games and Saints defensive captain Faye played quarterback for the first time ever; with most of the other players also having to play unfamiliar positions with some players being unavailable, and Pia stepping in to captain the team's offence for the first time.
Hyndburn Academy's Izzy was named Most Valuable Player for the girls' tournament and was commended by all the coaches present for her flawless performance on both sides of the ball.
The girls' win means they have qualified for the National Championships in Loughborough on June 26th where they will face off against regional winners from across the country for a chance to take part in an international event at the NFL London Games in October representing the UK.
