Mount Carmel Saints U15 Girls took part in the finals day for the Manchester Girls' Flag League, sponsored by the Chicago Bears.

After two outstanding victories against Irlam & Cadishead (14-6) in the Quarter Final and Trinity High (13-12) in the Semi Final, the girls fell short by just one touchdown in a closely fought final to Oasis Academy, losing 20-13. The girls' usual passing offence was severely hampered by absolutely torrential conditions by the time the final rolled around, but they adapted well and took the game right to the wire despite injuries and the rain. They were an absolute credit to themselves and the school, and to finish second in the North in just their first year together as a team was an outstanding achievement.  Every single player gave everything and we are ready to go back to Manchester for the NFL Schools' tournament in June and go one better with a victory!

Four of the girls in Year 9 also got special recognition and were invited by Kenny Bello, Team GB Youth Head Coach, to attend Great Britain trials/training camp in Loughborough over the coming months for a chance to represent their country. They are:
Mia P (Quarterback and Offensive Captain)
Lexie W (Running Back)
Lily D (Wide Receiver)
Faye A (Safety and Defensive Captain)

In addition, Olivia G in Year 8 was also highlighted as being worthy of a GB invitation based on her performance, but will have to wait for next year to be eligible based on her age.

Well done to the team;

Mia P
Lexie W
Lily D
Faye A
Pia C
Grace D
Liv G
Gabs B
Abbie N
