The Procession of Witness Stations of the Cross walk from Avenue Parade to the top of The Coppice in Accrington took place on Good Friday morning.
This inter-denominational prayer event is organised by the Knights of St. Columba Accrington Council 188 and pupils from Mount Carmel Roman Catholic and St. Christopher’s Church of England, the two faith High Schools in the town, read prayers and short readings at each of the ten stations of the cross along the path to the summit of the Coppice in Accrington.
Around 250 people attended this event with Fr. Wadsworth from St. Anne's and St. Joseph's Parishes and Fr. David Arnold and Fr. Jordan McDermott from St. Mary Magdalen's Accrington United Benefice beginning and ending the service with prayers. At the summit all the pupil readers gathered together around the cross for the final reading and hymn.
Thank you to Head Boy and Head Girl Jayden and Nicole along with the senior prefects who attended. Thanks also to Mount Carmel families and staff and those from our partner primary schools who supported the event.
