The annual CHARM awards presentation and talent show which is aimed to highlight the great role models and talent from Hyndburn high schools; St Christopher's, Hollins, Hyndburn Academy, Accrington Academy, Rhyddings and Mount Carmel took place this year at The Hollins High School.
Mount Carmel Year 11 pupil Jennifer W. was nominated for the Inspiration Award and was selected as the overall winner of the evening being named 'Young Person of the Year'. Such a well deserved award and everyone at Mount Carmel is absolutely delighted. Well done Jennifer!
Congratulations also to Year 10 pupil Eleanor C. who was nominated for and WON the Young Voice category award. Well done to her.
M.C.'s Year 7 pupil Jessica F. was a very well deserved runner up in the Young Carer category and Eli J. in Year 10 was a fantastic nominee for the Sports Award.
The Mount Carmel in-house talent show winners Madison T. and Maddie B. went on to represent Mount Carmel at the Awards evening singing a beautiful duet from 'Wicked' and were runners up. Well done girls!
Year 9 pupils Sophia B. and Ava L. were our CHARM Forum representatives who helped to raise funds in our school, raising an incredible £1,100.20 through a range of activities. They also did a fabulous job hosting the in-school talent show. Their hard work paid off as Mount Carmel raised the largest amount of money so were awarded the School Fundraiser Award for 2024.
Headteacher Mr Bowers and Assistant Curriculum Leader for Performing Arts Miss Javaid both expressed how exceptionally proud they were of all the pupils who were nominated and took part in the awards evening.
With thanks to YNOT Inspire and Carers Link Lancashire for organising the event and to all the sponsors of the awards.
