Mount Carmel's Faith and Community group decided at the start of the Autumn term to focus their fundraising efforts on our own school and local community during this academic year in what has been a very tough period for so many. The initiative was called 'MC Local Love'.
To start the project we asked our school community to generously donate items so we could create hampers to distribute at Christmas. We were amazed how fantastically well our families got behind this appeal and we were inundated with items. We had donations of tins of food, biscuits and snacks, toiletries, gifts, Christmas selection boxes & tins of biscuits, boxes of chocolates, baby items, Christmas decorations, adult gift sets and Christmas toys and children's activities. We had a gift voucher donation from Accrington Tesco to help purchase items for the hampers and an amazing donation from a generous individual who purchased gifts to ensure all M.C. pupils in receipt of the hampers received a gift.
Pupil members of our G.I.F.T. team (Growing in Faith Together Team) and members of our PTFA (Parent, Teachers and Friends Association) helped staff members of our Faith & Community group wrap and pack 62 wonderful hampers and five very large boxed hampers were also donated which included a whole host of items to ensure a lovely family Christmas.
The recipients of the hampers, all families from our school either collected or were delighted to have a special delivery from Father Christmas and some of his elves in the school minibus!
We would like to thank you all for your generosity, a little something from everybody adds up to a lot and that has helped make a big difference to some of our school community.
Wishing you all a very Happy and Holy Christmas.
