Mount Carmel was delighted to work once again with the Accrington Lions and host their Family Fun Day to raise awareness of Down Syndrome.
Hollyoaks stars Nikki Sanderson, Jacob Roberts and Eva Lorente were the special guests and visitors enjoyed having their photographs taken with the soap stars. Other attractions included a veterans living history museum and shooting range, the Hyndburn Hooters, Mermaid Sirena-Rose, the Little Barn petting zoo, a magician and a balloon sculptor.
Entertainment on the stage included favourites Dance Syndrome who encouraged the children to get up with them, Julia who sang country and western songs and the very colourful and hypnotic Az Kabile and friends who performed sword and tribal belly dancing.
The event, now in its fifth year, was organised by the Accrington Lions and president Richard Gibson said it continues to go ‘from strength to strength’. Money raised on the day will go towards supporting individuals with Down Syndrome in East Lancashire and also to raise awareness.
“Mount Carmel is ideal for an event like this as it is so versatile in the event of poor weather. We need to thank the staff and PTFA at the school for their help with the planning of the event, and also their hard work on the day. They never let us down.”
