Mount Carmel is committed to ensuring that staff health and wellbeing is a key school priority.
Our aim is simple. We want our staff to enjoy coming to work and to feel equally valued and respected.
Our school strapline, focused on family, faith and learning, provides the foundation of our mission statement and is well known and truly lived across our school community.
Wellbeing is something we measure, listen to and act upon.
Our annual staff survey helps us understand how colleagues feel and where we can continue to improve.

Department for Education Wellbeing Charter
Mount Carmel signed up to the Department for Education Wellbeing Charter in autumn 2021 and we continually strive to improve and enhance staff wellbeing in line with the commitments outlined in the Charter.

Staff wellbeing is not treated as a one-off initiative. It forms part of how the school plans, consults and makes decisions.
Staff voice
We regularly consult staff on a range of issues and undertake annual staff surveys to monitor and evaluate our wellbeing programme.
Wellbeing working party
Our School Wellbeing Co-ordinator leads a well-established working party involving colleagues from all roles in school. The group meets every half term.
Workload matters
Changes to policy and practice are risk assessed with staff workload in mind, helping us consider the impact of decisions before they are implemented.
Turning feedback into action
Staff survey feedback helps shape school policy and practice and is captured within our Staff Health & Wellbeing action plan.
Wellbeing has a place in school improvement.
To ensure staff health and wellbeing remains a high priority for school leaders and governors, it is included within our School Improvement Plan.
We are currently looking at how we can further reduce staff workload and reviewing flexible working arrangements across the whole staff body, with a view to making further wellbeing improvements for staff.
