Quarry Bank Mill English visit

Quarry Bank Mill English visit

On Tuesday 1st October, 120 year 9 students visited Quarry Bank Mill, Manchester in order to develop a deeper understanding of the living and working conditions of Victorian children.
The students got to see first hand the dormitory where children would sleep and experience the noise and potential hazards that children were exposed to whilst working at the mill.
The visit was organised to complement and support work currently being covered in lessons as well as preparing pupils for their GCSE English Literature, in which they are required to study a 19th century novel and have an understanding of Victorian context.
