Mount Carmel High School pupils paid their respects to the Accrington Pals and all who have lost their lives in service for their country since then.

With 2018 being the centenary of World War One Armistice Day the occasion was marked with a service attended by all 720 pupils in the school yard. The school choir sang and readings were made before the Last Post was played by music teacher Miss Javaid signalling the beginning of two minutes silence.

Mount Carmel pupils Denley, Chelsea and Kiera who are army and air cadets accompanied by Mr Livesey, ex-army Warrant Officer and current Mount Carmel Pastoral Support Officer presented poppy wreaths as a sign of respect.

A memorial to the Accrington Pals has also been created in the school hall using over 2,000 poppies.
